How has NewsXtreme accomplished these goals/challenges for Times Record News?

The time involved in the proofing process is significantly less compared to pre-NewsXtreme. Previously, some editors would print out their pages, others would walk down to the image setters, take the film, walk it back to the rest of the editorial department to approve--so the time frame of approval is now much faster. The Editorial department can log into NewsXtreme, look at the actual plates by color separation and approve the plate all from one screen.

NewsXtreme’s intuitive and graphical interface was one of the features that impressed Wichita the most. From the initial demonstration, NewsXtreme seemed very simple to use for soft proofing but also for the more in-depth users, as far as plate configurations and scheduling.

NewsXtreme doesn’t require a specific naming convention so Wichita could customize their naming conventions making them as simple as listing the publication and publication date.

We used to throw away barrels of film waste each month which would not be feasible once we moved to CTP. NewsXtreme allows the editorial department to review and approve plates all in one step. Training was very easy.
