Enhancements
File System output device processes have been improved through an option
that allows files to be output without resource forks.
Enhancements to GUSS/Image Express 3.5.5
Device Group capabilities have been improved to allow jobs to be routed to a
device within
the group even if one or more devices in the group are currently
busy.
Web file paths can now be specified as UNC paths.
Time Release settings have been refined so that only the jobs in a specified
queue
(not the queue itself) are released at the designated time.
Duplication capabilities have been expanded to allow jobs to be duplicated
when they
are requeued to a queue for which Duplication has been enabled.
FTP device functionality has been improved in the following ways:
1. Long filenames are no longer truncated to 20 characters.
2. Only backslashes within filenames are changed to underscores.
Enhancements to GUSS/Image Express 3.5.R4
A memory leak that interfered with GUSS's ability to effectively communicate
with STATUS
has been fixed.
Memory management has been optimized to allow available system
resources to be freed
for use more efficiently.
GUSS now correctly works with Quark 5 to allow users to reject jobs with
RGB images
during OPI image substitution.
Enhancements to GUSS/Image Express 3.5.1
Directory monitoring in GUSS/IE has been enhanced to allow users to force
input directories
to use polling by entering the directory path as a UNC path
(i.e. \\server\share\directory).
GUSS/IE now includes support for recombining Escofot DCS1 files when OPI
insertion is performed.
Instances of GUSS/IE that can run simultaneously are limited to one.
Enhancements to GUSS/Image Express 3.5
GUSS/IE can output to TCP/IP printers.
Job selection in Master Queue is correctly recognized and held.
All current and held jobs are retained after upgrade procedures.
Corrupted ImageCache files are automatically rebuilt.
GUSS/IE language is determined by locale of workstation on which it is
installed.
Added support for STATUS.
Added a dialog box that prompts users for confirmation before rearranging
System Monitor icons.
LPR printers can be set up on Macintoshes running MacOS 8.6-9.x and
Laserwriter Driver
versions 8.51-8.6.5 using the desktop printer utility. LPR
printers created with other
LaserWriter Drivers are unsupported in this
release.
(GUSS only) GUSS monitors QMAN heartbeat file to determine online status
of QMAN devices.
(GUSS only) GUSS receives online status information for BlackMagic.
(GUSS only) Resolution settings no longer required for ORBITLink
installation and setup.
(GUSS only) For Imaging Stations configured to use ORBITLink
Multiplexing, GUSS
creates log entries when jobs are printed by Imaging
Station in addition to log entries
created when jobs are sent.
Enhancements to GUSS/Image Express 3.4
GUSS/Image Express correctly displays job names containing octal
encoded characters.
Added support for Autologic's Output Manager previews.
Low-resolution images are not printed if the high-resolution image cannot be
located.
All configuration settings are now stored in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE rather
than HKEY_CURRENT_USER.
LPR protocol allows printers created in a Windows 2000 Advanced Server
clusters
environment to connect to GUSS/Image Express queues. (See LPR
Queues document
for use, configuration, and limitations.)
GUSS/Image Express accurately recognizes AppleTalk queries that
incorrectly spooled as jobs.
A 100 ms delay between query responses prevents the Mac Chooser (in
faster Mac machines)
from crashing.
Queue Monitor (under View on the Menu Bar) correctly displays specific
queues in a submenu.
Multi-byte Japanese characters display correctly.
Filenames that use extended character sets generate correctly.
Image Cache use can be disabled through the Preferences item on the File
menu.
Individual print job logs can be generated.
GUSS/Image Express supports the WatchDog program (which monitors
GUSS/Image
Express and displays a warning message if GUSS/Image
Express stops functioning).
GUSS/Image Express correctly outputs MultiAd files with multiple
embedded original images.
(GUSS only) Added enhanced job assignment functionality to route plates
that arrive as
separate jobs to the same output device.
(GUSS only) For ORBITLink RIPS that do not require setup files, the Setup
File option
can be left blank.
(GUSS only) When using FTP devices for GUSS output, users can choose to
overwrite
existing files when uploading a new file with the same filename.
(GUSS only) The :Kukmin option (added to the AssignJob command line
switch) enables
special treatment for the Kukmin Daily.
