Maximizing efficiency…reducing costs

Pre-Press Workflow

Improving newspaper production efficiency is our goal and is supported with a complete array of software solutions designed to speed processes, enhance accuracy and conserve resources. With the significant impact of economic and technological changes that continue to shape the industry, it is more important than ever to take advantage of these solutions.

NewsXtreme Prepress Production Workflow
Like all of our solutions, NewsXtreme is designed for the newspaper industry. Maybe that’s why our customers tell us it’s the easiest to learn and the simplest to use. At the core of the system is the product-planning wizard, which makes scheduling pages, plates, and colors a fast, simple process. By establishing multiple priority levels for products throughout the day, NewsXtreme maximizes your press time by processing jobs based on deadlines. NewsXtreme often uncovers unknown inefficiencies and duplicated tasks within departments to make or a more streamlined operation. Its straightforward, intuitive interface simplifies cross training and improves communication--approving pages has never been easier by staff and commercial customer clients.

NewsXtreme Portal

NewsXtreme Portal simplifies the pre-production process of commercial jobs for newspaper print sites and their customers.  Directly from the portal website, newspapers can manage their commercial work by setting up accounts, configuring print sites, and approving pages while customers can easily upload files and review their orders.

Blackmagic Color-Calibrated Proofing
Installed at more than 500 print sites, including Wall Street Journal and New York Times, Blackmagic News Extra is THE standard in hard copy proofing. Using patented Real Dot Technology (RDT) and sophisticated yet simple color calibration tools, Blackmagic News Extra automatically creates hard copy proofs that exactly match your press from the same ripped data that is used for final output. In addition, it will do it using newsprint stock on the latest large format, low cost inkjet printers.

PressReady
PressReady is the most advanced soft proofing system available. It combines the proven color-calibrated technology adapted from the newspaper industry's most popular proofing system (Blackmagic News Extra) with the emerging technologies of today's advanced monitors. It gives you the distinct ability to improve the quality of your products to meet your customers’ demands and reduce the number of advertiser chargebacks because of unmet color expectations.

OPI
GUSS OPI allows a low-resolution preview to be used within the page layout in place of the high-resolution image. This preview contains only a small sampling of the original data, so it can be easily moved without bogging down the network. At print time, high-resolution images are automatically inserted in place of the previews as the job is being sent to the output device. Minimizing the size of your working files streamlines the process and keeps your system running efficiently.

NX RIP
The foundation of the NewsXtreme RIP solution is built on Harlequin RIP technology. NX RIP provides optimum productivity by RIPing and outputting concurrently. RIPed pages can be imaged directly, or sent to a queue as compressed files. As new jobs are being RIPed, queued jobs are automatically scheduled and sent to your output device.

NC Translator
NC Translator is a multi-purpose tool that automatically performs a variety of common actions on files including renaming, duplicating, moving and distributing. Naming conventions are an important part of efficient workflow. NC Translator automatically converts file names generated by diverse systems into a common naming scheme. The system also corrects discrepancies in naming schemes, insuring that the newspaper's naming convention is consistent. The system also has the ability to "normalize" a file name so that each field in the name uses a fixed number of characters. In addition, files can be directed to different systems based on routing characters in the name and on user-defined rules.
