NC Translator

NC Translator is a multi-purpose tool that automatically performs a variety of common actions on files in the user's system including automatically renaming, duplicating, moving and distributing files.

Naming Conventions
NC Translator automatically converts file names generated by diverse systems into a common naming scheme. The system also corrects discrepancies in naming schemes, insuring that the newspaper's naming convention is consistent.

Normalizing Files
NC Translator has the ability to "normalize" a file name so that each field in the name uses a fixed number of characters. This allows maximum compatibility for systems that require this function.

Moving Files
Files can be directed to different systems based on routing characters in the name. NC Translator routes files based on user-defined rules.

How the System Works
NC Translator monitors selected folders for "input." This input can simply be moved to another location (an Output folder) or in more complex scenarios, can be automatically renamed or sorted before ultimately being placed in the output folder(s).
